United Parcel Service Inc - Class B (UPS) Dividends

GoodMoat Analysis

Based on data as of March 26, 2026

UPS's high 6.47% dividend yield is a standout feature, but its sustainability requires caution. The payout appears well-covered by free cash flow, yet the company's declining revenue, high debt, and a valuation target below the current price present significant risks for an income-focused investor.

Read full analysis
United Parcel Service Inc offers a compelling headline dividend yield of 6.47%, which is significantly higher than the broader market and its industrial sector peers. For an income investor, the key question is sustainability. The dividend appears supported by free cash flow, with a 5.7% FCF yield providing a healthy coverage cushion. However, a deeper look at the Quality Indicators from the investment framework reveals mixed signals. The company's balance sheet shows a Debt/Equity ratio of 1.76, which is elevated and warrants close monitoring, as a strong balance sheet is a key quality metric. Furthermore, the company's revenue growth is negative at -3.2% YoY, and the GoodMoat target price of $82.26 suggests the stock may be overvalued at its current price of $98.37. While the current FCF generation is sufficient for the payout, the combination of a leveraged balance sheet, declining top-line performance, and a valuation target signalling caution indicates the dividend's long-term security is not assured. An investor must weigh the attractive current income against these fundamental business challenges. Analysis based on data as of 2024-07-21.
