GoodMoat Analysis

Based on data as of March 26, 2026

Nasdaq's dividend profile is sustainable and shows a commitment to growth, supported by a strong free cash flow yield and a moderate payout ratio. However, the current yield is below the broader financial sector average, making it more suitable for a total return investor than a pure income seeker.

Read full analysis
For an income-focused value investor, Nasdaq's dividend is sustainable and growing, though its yield is modest. The dividend is well-covered by earnings, with a payout ratio of approximately 33% based on the provided EPS of $3.09 and a dividend of $1.06 per share (implied from the 1.26% yield and share price). This low ratio provides a significant cushion for safety and future increases. The company's free cash flow yield of 4.2% is sufficient to support the payout, aligning with the framework's focus on strong FCF generation as a Quality Indicator. The balance sheet is also favourable, with a manageable Debt/Equity ratio of 0.77, which is below the framework's cautionary threshold of 1.0x Debt/EBITDA, indicating financial strength. Historically, Nasdaq has demonstrated a commitment to returning capital, with a track record of dividend growth. The primary consideration is the dividend yield of 1.26%, which is below the average for the financial services sector, often above 2-3%. Therefore, while the dividend itself is secure and growing, the stock may appeal more to investors prioritizing capital appreciation and dividend growth over high current income. The quality of the payout is high, backed by robust fundamentals.
