Roper Technologies Inc (ROP) Dividends

GoodMoat Analysis

Based on data as of March 26, 2026

Roper Technologies' dividend is sustainable and supported by strong free cash flow, but the yield is low relative to the technology sector. The company's modest payout ratio and consistent dividend growth reflect a strategy of prioritizing reinvestment for acquisitions over high income distribution.

Read full analysis
For an income-focused value investor, Roper Technologies presents a profile of safety over high yield. The dividend yield of 0.95% is below the broader technology sector average, indicating this is not a primary income stock. However, the dividend's sustainability is strong. The payout ratio is low, estimated at approximately 24% based on the provided EPS of $14.20 and the current annual dividend of roughly $3.30 per share. This leaves ample room for safety and growth. Critically, the dividend is well-covered by the company's robust free cash flow generation, with an FCF yield of 6.5% significantly exceeding the dividend yield. This aligns with the 'Strong' rating for Free Cash Flow in the GoodMoat Quality Indicators, which favours FCF margins above 10-15% and high conversion. The company has a history of growing its dividend, supporting a favourable view on income growth. Furthermore, the balance sheet is solid with a Debt/Equity ratio of 0.47, which is conservative and supports the Quality Indicator for a strong balance sheet with low debt. The primary capital allocation strategy is clearly reinvestment for growth, as evidenced by the company's serial acquisition model and the low payout ratio, which is typical for a compounder focusing on internal reinvestment and strategic M&A to drive value.
