GoodMoat Analysis

Based on data as of March 26, 2026

The current price appears deeply undervalued relative to the GoodMoat Target, offering a significant margin of safety. However, the P/E multiple is elevated compared to the sector average, suggesting the market may be pricing in growth expectations. The valuation assessment is favourable based on the DCF target, but the high P/E requires scrutiny of the underlying business quality.

Based on the GoodMoat Investment Framework's valuation assessment, Qualcomm's current price of $128.92 is significantly below the GoodMoat Target of $363.39. This implies a margin of safety of approximately 65%, which falls into the 'Deeply Undervalued' band (>40%) as defined in Section 4. This is the primary and most favourable signal from a value perspective. However, other valuation metrics present a more mixed picture. The forward P/E of 26x is above the typical sector average for semiconductors, which often trades in the high teens to low 20s. This suggests the market is already attributing a premium for Qualcomm's profitability and growth prospects. The free cash flow yield of 9.2% is strong and supports the case for underlying cash generation. For a value investor, the massive discount to the DCF-derived target is compelling, but it necessitates a high-conviction view that the business's moat and quality (as assessed in other framework sections) justify the current earnings multiple and can support the growth implied by the target price. The discrepancy between the high P/E and the deep DCF undervaluation highlights the importance of integrating the valuation assessment with a thorough analysis of the company's competitive advantages and financial health.
