GoodMoat Analysis

Based on data as of March 26, 2026

Bank of America demonstrates a fundamentally sound quality profile with strong profitability and a healthy balance sheet, though its growth trajectory appears muted. The bank's high operating margin and solid ROE are favourable, but its free cash flow yield is modest and revenue growth is currently unclear.

Analyzing Bank of America through the Quality Indicators lens reveals a mixed but generally solid picture. The bank's 38.3% operating margin is a standout strength, indicating excellent efficiency in its core operations. Its Return on Equity (ROE) of 10.1%, while respectable for a large bank, falls below the framework's high-quality threshold of 15-20%. The balance sheet shows a Debt/Equity ratio of 2.34, which is typical for a leveraged financial institution but must be assessed in the context of its asset quality and regulatory capital, which the provided data does not detail. The 3.5% Free Cash Flow Yield suggests steady, though not exceptional, cash generation. From a Growth Assessment perspective, the data is limited. The lack of provided YoY revenue growth and any mention of accelerating growth or a high CAGR makes it difficult to score the growth trajectory favourably. The primary growth driver for a bank of this scale is typically tied to macroeconomic factors like interest rates and loan growth, rather than durable moat advantages. Overall, the financial health is stable with strong profitability, but the growth outlook based on the provided metrics is neutral at best.
